PathDojo aimed to elevate its exam preparation platform to better serve clients preparing for Pathology board exams. The primary objective was to develop and integrate a comprehensive analytics system. This system was tasked to accomplish two main goals:
1) External Client Progress Tracking: Formulate a detailed set of analytics to track and report each client’s performance and progress effectively.
2) Internal Question/Exam Optimization: Assess and enhance the quality of questions and exams through detailed analytics, leading to improved content delivery and learning outcomes.
SOLUTION
Understanding Analytics: The team brainstormed and formulated potential analytics metrics, focusing on both external client-facing metrics (like percentile rankings) and internal quality metrics (like question quality and repetition optimization).
Understanding Data: This phase involved a deep dive into the existing data structure. The team created a test environment to evaluate data quality and mapped the data schema to understand the relationships and flow. They identified constraints based on current data quality and suggested ideas for new data logging to support additional analytics.
Performing Analytics: The team developed and prototyped all the necessary analytic queries. They ran and validated these queries to ensure accuracy and relevancy and prepared a structured report detailing the findings with graphical and tabular presentations. Optional next steps were proposed to incorporate external analytics into user profiles and to develop infrastructure for automated and live internal monitoring, along with brainstorming for additional data collection.
